    Buddha's Birthplace : No Debate ?

Mayadevi Temple,Lumbini,Nepal, Birth place of Lord Budhha

Shakyamuni Buddha was born in 623 B.C. in Lumbini (a small town in the southern Terai plains ), in southern Nepal, Since his time, Nepal has been a sacred ground for Buddhists as the birthplace of the Buddha. . The Ashok Pillar, restored garden and surroundings of Lumbini have the remains of many of the ancient stupas and monasteries & the ruins of the old city can still be seen . An important part of Lumbini is the temple of Maya Devi with marker stone (first step of Buddha). It has a stone image of Maya Devi giving birth to Lord . There is prominent landmark of the Sacred Garden.

Recently, several beautiful shrines have been built by devotees from Buddhist countries. A visit to Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha, is not only for spiritual enlightenment but also for solace and satisfaction that one gets in such a calm and peaceful place.

But the weird thing is our neighbouring country India's historian websites & other books try to claim that Siddhartha Gautam was born in Northern part of India. Though he got Enlightenment(Buddhattwa) in India, Lord was born in Lumbini ,Nepal . In India lot of travel tour companies are making fool to the visitors by telling & showing that Buddha was born in there own build place some where in northern side . Its been critisicized by Nepalese & some International concern authority to Indian activities.
Ashoka Pillar Incription, the proof of birthplace of the Buddha, Lumbini : Nepal
The Historical Inscription on the Pillar is engraved in Brahmi Script
In 249 BC, when the Emperor Ashoka visited Lumbini it was a flourishing village. Ashoka constructed four stupas and a stone pillar with a figure of a horse on top. The stone pillar bears an inscription which, in English translation, runs as follows: "King Piyadasi (Ashoka), beloved of devas, in the 20 year of the coronation, himself made a royal visit, Buddha Sakyamuni having been born here, a stone railing was built and a stone pillar erected to the Bhagavan (God)having been born here . The Ashok pillar ,which is Historical evidence was discoverd by German archaeologist, Dr. Fuhrer in 1896. The inscription on the pillar is engraved in Brahmi script.

In 1996, an archaeological dig unearthed a "flawless stone" placed there by the Indian Emperor Ashoka in 249 BC to mark the precise location of the Buddha's birth more than 2,600 years ago, if authenticated, All the surviving accounts of Buddha's life were written many years after his death by idealizing followers rather than by objective historians. Nevertheles, all the historic proofs show clearly that we do not need to do any debates about the birthplace of the Buddha - Lumbini, NEPAL.
